Coffee and Surfing

so, I've always said, "When I graduate from college, I'll quit coffee." Seriously! I really have always said that! Coffee runs deep in the blood veins of the Brimhall family. My grandparents drink coffee all day long. My dad drinks coffee. And when I was little girl, my dad would make me sugar coffee (a.k.a. a lot of milk and about 8 tea spoons of sugar)...I know what you're thinking,.."so that's why lacy is so hyper..."

anyway, all who know me, or who have lived with me (college roomies) know that very familiar smell that floats throughout our apartment every morning,...or um, afternoon? (late sleeper?) ...sooo...yes,...the addiction is being broken!! Seriously! I'm drinking green tea right now to "wein" myself off coffee. A cup of green tea has about 20 miligrams of caffiene. A cup of coffee has about 100 miligrams of caffiene. Sooo I was averaging about 2 to 3 cups a day. Sometimes more. Especially if I had a lot of school work to do.

So, now I just drink about 3 to 4 cups of green tea a day which equals about 60 to 80 miligrams of caffiene. Which is really good!! Green tea also has antioxidants in it to help fight off cancer etc. AND it raises your metabolism!! Yesss....

Now, something else that's new in my life is that I'm a surfer girl now!! On Memorial day, we had a really bad storm here, so in Galveston the waves were HUGE. Seriously. So a few of my friends and I we went to the beach out 5ish...and I learned how to surf. Now the dangerous part is...we DID surf right by the PIER...(bad mistake) and the water was MURKY and....it was getting DUSK! ALL BAD COMBOS!! Anyway, I really did have a lot of fun. I caught my first wave and stood up and rode it out to the shore. It was so sweet. Then, this huge wave came and the surf board flipped over and sliced open my shin and caused this HUGE deep cut. Blood instantly started pouring. My friend Jason, (my roomies b/f) was right next to me and was like, "uh, lacy, i think you might need to get on the surf board...sharks can smell blood a mile a way...". So, then I came back to shore and blood was pouring down my shin. It's kinda of a cool story. I didn't cry. Instead, I asked everyone to take a picture of me right next to the surf board. If i had a digital camera, I would post what my shin looked liked because it was PRETTY!

Other than that, I'm staying pretty busy at the church and looking for another job for the fall to suppliment all my spending/bills since I'm doing an internship.  Which is all good because ONE day it will ALL be worth it!! So keep that in your prayers! I'm currently meeting with a few Christian schools here in the area for teaching positions and lakewood has a data entry job that they are trying to get for me for this summer. soooo please, keep me in your prayers! Thanks a lot! I would love to hear from all of you!!

God Bless! :)

Life in my new home-Houston

All I have to say is all the verses in the Bible that talk about enduring, waiting, and trusting through trials and seasons...are soooo true. Never in my life have I ever experienced a season like I am now. I've never seen God's blessings this thick before. I've never experienced his provision like I am now and I have to point to Him and give Him complete thanks for everything in my life right now. All I have to say is, sometimes even if you have to WAIT YEARS ...on the Lord for something...it's completely worth the wait!!

I love Houston. I absolutely love it here. God has really blessed me with new friends and I'm having a lot of fun doing things in the city-concerts, nice outdoor restaurants...you know, a little different from Marshall :) It's very nice and again, I'm thankful to God for his blessings.

Today, I found out that "hurricane seasons" starts here in June 1st. That's kind of weird to me. But, oh well. I guess this season is supposed to be more active than last season. that is what the news is saying. Sooooo.....that should be interesting! :)

"Holy Spirit, gift of God

teach my soul to soar

train me in your holy ways

Oh, Lord"

"And all to YOU God

for all you are to Me...

There is nothing like your love"

-Hillsong United "Look to You" album

I got this CD like a few days ago and have played it over and over again. Man, and these lyrics to this song are just so amazing to me. All throughout scripture we see passages that say, "teach me" "show me"....I love that...I love that the Holy Spirit is our GIFT from God. Our helper. Our guide. The Holy Spirit shows us things and enables us to go on heights.

Whoever reads this, I pray that in Christ, you are able to soar on heights, grow deeper in your love with Christ, and fall so much in LOVE with HIM because, man, I can tell you from personal experience that His love is soooooo sweet. Look to HIM. You'll NEVER regret it.

let this me a declaration of the redeemed

let it rise

You who have done great things among us

will restore our lives once again

No more miry clay

No more barren land

We will soar on greater heights

We will fly on eagle's wings

You who have done great things among us

will restor our lives once again.

God is at work all around us. God is at work within You and is constantly providing opportunities to acknowledge his great name.

The joy of the Lord is our amazing strength.

Wow. :)

So, spring break is going great. Had SOOOOO much fun in Houston with some friends! -a blast. and I'm leaving for Florida on Monday to go surfing! yes.....

Well, God is definately soooo good and amazing. Those words should never become "cliche" or "too normal" to declare and speak, or write. -He deserves all the praise and glory, and adoration.

God is really tranforming my mind and allowing me to learn how to develop "a new wine skin"-so that "new wine" can flow through my life. (analogy, OF COURSE ;) ) What I mean, is, there is a verse in Isaiah that says, "Behold, I will do something new. Will you not be aware of it?" I truly, with all my heart, believe that over my life. The wine skin analogy, refers to my thinking and expectation of God and his amazing power to work in my life and around my life.

Jesus talks about how you can not pour new wine into an old wineskin, or it will burst. Anyway, I completely praise Him for the amazing faith he is giving me, and the amazing insight he is allowing me to perceive due to His Word.-faith comes by hearing...and hearing-believing.

I'm completely believing God for amazing things when I graduate. I'm out of state right now. One of the purposes for this visit is to try and decide the next step after graduation. I praise God that I already know what is NOT going to be happening when I graduate, so now, I need to get the resume started and rolling! and to TOTALLY destory any fear or hesitation-Haha. I'm truly, seriously, believing with faith for the unseen.

I don't want to live my life "being safe"-taking the "safe job" where I KNOW I'll be making money...I honestly don't care about that. I know God is our Providor and isn't intimidated by our situations. And I know that I'm not limited due to my own talents, resources, experience, credentials, or even "resume", haha, because I know I'm a daughter of the Most High God-He can open doors that NO MAN can shut...so, I'm beleiving and claiming that with God, all things are capable and possible. So, i'm excited about coming back from this trip and creating my resume and sending them out to churches to Houston and Austin. (or wherever else, if God makes clear). For a while, I had the mentality, "Well, if God wants me to do "this", then, he needs to open the door, or, he will make this happen. However, I know that in my present situation, I just need to be active and make myself ready for those doors to be open, and go to those places for the doors to be open-believing I'm the daughter of the Great King.

Here is something I have read that has really encouraged me with my present situation. This is from a book I am currently reading:

"There's an old story about a little frog that was born at the bottom of a small, circular well, similar to those you might see at a typical rural farm. He and his family lived there, and he was content to play in the water, swimming all around that little well. He thought, 'Life doesn't get any better than this. I have all that I need'. But one day, he looked up and noticed the light at the top of the well. The little frog became curious, wondering what was up there. He slowly climbed up the side of the well. When he got to the top, he cautiously peered out over the edge. Lo and behold, the first thing he saw was a pond. He couldn't believe it. It was a thousand times bigger than the well. He ventured farther and discovered a hue lake. He stood there gazing in amazement. Eventually, the little frog hopped a long way and cam to the ocean, where everywhere he looked, all he could see was water. He was shocked beyond measure. He began to realize how limited his thinking had been He thought he had it all back in the well, but all he really had was drop in the bucket compared to what God wanted him to enjoy. God's dream for your life is so much bigger and greater than you can imagine. If God showed you everything He had in store for you, it would boggle your mind. So many times we're like that little frog. We've been enclosed in our own little well. It's been our comfortable environment. It's how and where we were rasied. It's all we've ever known, a certain level of living, a certain way of thinking. All the while, God has so much more in store for us."

I really liked that story. Also, I'm learning about remembering the importance of vision, goals, and dreams for your life. We should always be progressing, and not remaining stagnant, you know? God has given us resources, talents, etc., to further HIS kingdom. I don't think we should be setting the cruise control on cruise...because we think we've accomplished all we can, or think we can't do anything else...

So, I'm excited about life and I hope you are too because we serve an amazing powerful Creator of all things. I pray for whoever reads my posts that you will be encouraged in your journey! Keep me in your prayers, as well! and let me know if there is anything you need prayer, advice, or help
